Village Well Built by Bambi Uganda Orphans / BKB in 2016
Posted on: February 14th, 2017 by bambiadmin
Carmen Donahue’s Spring is locally known as Nababilye. It lies in Kiziiko village in Central Uganda. Our Manager Ssagal David writes: “The spring provides water to about 55 resident families with each having 18 people on average besides others from neighboring villages. Butambala district is a predominantly Muslim community. Other beneficiaries are New Hope Nursery and Primary School with a population of 143 pupils and 6 teachers. For years the spring had been an open water source shared by both humans and animals. Thus all kinds of contaminants like dust, run off rain water and garbage found their easy way into the spring making it a health hazard to the users especially children who are more prone to infection. Well, this is now no more, all these contaminants and other potential ones have been cut off thus saving the residents from the risk of water borne diseases. The clean water will improve hygiene and sanitation in homes, reduce water related illnesses and promote farming especially among families residing around the spring as they use it to irrigate vegetable gardens during the dry spell. Majority of people in this village are peasants cultivating mainly bananas, cassava, maize as their main food crops and ginger as a cash crop. They also rear chicken, goats and cattle but on a very small scale. Many thanks our dear sponsors.”
Solar Lamps Distributed to Families with Orphans & Vulnerable children, Single Mothers & the Old
Posted on: February 14th, 2017 by bambiadmin
The solar lamps were distributed to some residents of Namagera, Kabagezi, Wagaba and Kamuli villages in Wakiso district. Beneficiaries were mainly families with orphans and vulnerable children, single mothers and the old. A total of 27 families received lamps so far.
We won’t be able to give the lamps to 100 families as we had anticipated because the cost went up by 5000 Ug Shs (slightly over a pound) so only about 80 families are likely to receive the lamps.
The recipients were so thrilled with the lamps and send their great appreciation to the donors for the invaluable support. They will now be able to save the money they were spending on buying kerosene for lighting lamps and use it to meet their other needs. The lamps will facilitate children’s reading at home. What a relief! They don’t have to strain their eyes anymore in dim light. Paraffin/Kerosene causes indoor polluting which can damage the eyes and cause respiratory problems so risks associated with the fumes from the lamps and kerosene will also be minimized.
Many thanks to our dear donors

Big Smile on Every Face – Orphans at Gogolo Children’s Park
Posted on: January 4th, 2016 by bambiadmin
On December 15, 2015 busloads of orphans were driven from their villages to Gogolo – our children’s park near Entebbe. 93 orphans spent 7 hours playing on swings and bouncing castles, singing, dancing and playing soccer and basketball with their family and friends. The children enjoyed two snacks and a festive buffet of their favorite food. They also had cake for dessert. Before leaving every child received a gift bag with school supplies, several story books and a toy. There were big smiles on every face!
URGENT UPDATE – December 1, 2015

URGENT:
Bambi Uganda Orphans hopes to expand its Mobile Health Clinic (MHC) program and provide medicine, health care items and training in hygiene and sanitation to 2500 orphans and their care givers in 15 remote villages in central Uganda.
However, time is VERY limited to ensure our project’s success. We need to raise at least a net total of $5,000 pledged from 40+ people by December 31, 2015.
