Addressing Poverty's Root
Causes Since 1998

Bega Kwa Bega (BKB) — "shoulder to shoulder" in Swahili — partners with low-income communities across Uganda through an integrated, community-led approach to addressing the root causes of poverty. We don't impose solutions; we work alongside communities and families to co-create sustainable, locally owned programs. For over 25 years, our staff have reached more than 450,000 people across 630 villages in 55 districts in Uganda.
What We Do
An integrated, community-led approach:
Without clean water, families face constant illness and lost productivity.
Without adequate food, children cannot learn.
Without access to school, futures narrow before they begin.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
Clean water close to home — for health, safety, and opportunity.
Nutrition and Agriculture
Growing food, growing knowledge, growing futures.
Education
Opening doors from pre-school through university.
Adolescent Health and Vocational Center
Opening doors for adolescents through health education and vocational training.
