About Us

 Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the living conditions of Ugandan orphans and the families who care for them. We do this by providing financial, technical and educational assistance to community-based organizations (CBOs) which provide services to vulnerable children in Uganda. We also directly manage programs that improve the lives of vulnerable children.

Our Goals

Improve the lives of Uganda’s orphans, their guardians and the larger community

Help orphans and their foster families develop life skills and become self-sufficient

Fund activities that directly improve the health, education, human rights and overall quality of life of orphans and their communities

Support projects that advance the rights of and opportunities for Ugandan girls

 Our Objectives

In partnership with CBOs, Bambi Uganda Orphans develops and implements cutting edge solutions for the most affected communities to:

Implement health initiatives,

such as the provision of direct health services and the training of

community health workers.

Improve early education by

sponsoring orphans and training teachers.

Promote self-sufficiency by providing skills training and financial support to start and successfully manage community based income generating activities.

Provide financial and management support to CBOs serving vulnerable children.

Provide safe, reliable water for orphans and their communities

Demonstrate better farming methods

to improve family nutrition and ensure year round food supply.

Advance programs that protect children’s rights

Initiate and encourage activities that protect the interests of girls.

Our Philosophy

We believe orphans should maintain their sense of family and community. This means helping them strengthen relationships with extended family and enabling them to stay together in their own home. We help orphans hold on to their property rights and, when they are old enough, learn the skills and knowledge they need to become financially self-sufficient.

We believe all basic needs of a child must be addressed for that child to thrive. The challenges faced by Uganda’s orphans are complex and inter-related. A child who is sponsored for school but does not have access to clean water, or a child who has food but is still ill from lack of basic health care, cannot succeed. Education, health care, and living conditions must evolve together.

We believe in long term, sustainable solutions. Development can only happen through respectful partnerships with local communities. We help communities empower themselves and take charge of their own development. Only then can they permanently improve their standard of living.

Activities we believe help build strong communities and raise healthy children include:

Conducting workshops on farming and animal husbandry

Ensuring safe housing for orphans

Protecting orphans’ property and inheritance rights

Helping girls learn about health concerns such as teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and sexual abuse

Funding health programs such as health clinics and nutrition education

Training health educators in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention

Promoting early education interventions, such as preschool and primary education

Offering vocational skills and business management training

Supporting income generating projects

Offering project management and financial training for community-based organizations

Creating access to clean water sources
